Hello There, Hello Fresh.

Let me start by saying, I am extremely skeptical of reviews online simply because I know how easy it is to phone it in. I also know how often those reviews are advertisements in disguise.

That being said, I have to tell you about using Hello Fresh while pregnant.

We first started using this meal delivery service in November/December which if you’ve read my previous post, you’ll know we were in the middle of a kitchen remodel. Brilliant? No. I was also in my first trimester of pregnancy and the very thought of food made me sick to my stomach.

All things considered, Hello Fresh was a life-saver over the last few months. Namely, I cannot stand doing menu prep and grocery shopping right now. The thought of scrolling through a mental Rolodex to find meals for a week and then walking up and down every aisle at Kroger makes my stomach roll.

First of all, signing up for Hello Fresh was easy peasy. They do ask questions about your preferences (vegan, GF, dairy free, etc). You select your meal plan size (number of meals and number of people) and then your delivery date. For us, Wednesday works great for delivery since we tend to give up on cooking toward the end of the week otherwise and this keeps us at home.

You can pre-select your recipes for the week or just let Hello Fresh select them for you.

Second, using Hello Fresh while pregnant does mean that my husband who isn’t throwing up because his BB cream smells like grapefruit (seriously, I can’t win), can still prepare a healthy, home-cooked meal for our family without dragging me into it.

Third, the meals are really delicious and with a variety of ingredients, it is often my healthiest meal of the day. Being nauseated during pregnancy often means you cannot bring yourself to eat healthy foods much less swallow a prenatal vitamin. So for me to be able to eat one healthy meal a day gives me reasonable confidence that I’m not completely failing at this “my body is a life-giving vessel” bit.

Fourth and finally, you get freebies to share with your friends. You can share them with your friends via email. I like to wait until I have a few freebies stored up and then I post a notice to Facebook letting folks know I’ve got a few. They are usually all claimed within an hour of my posting!

Using Hello Fresh while pregnant does ease some of the challenges of cooking and eating healthy on a budget when you are already dealing with the everyday challenges of pregnancy. It can benefit you, your baby, your long-suffering family, and your friends.

If you use this link to check our Hello Fresh, you get $40 off your first week (and I get a $20 credit off a week)
